Shipping & Inventory Associate, Part Time

Job Description

Objectives:

Ship outbound customer orders for an e-commerce retailer/manufacturer according to prescribed procedures. Ensure timely & accurate order picking and fulfillment of orders to customers. Monitor and maintain adequate product inventory levels to ensure all orders are filled. Provide support to Production Department through material preparation once daily shipping/inventory tasks are completed.

Major Responsibilities

  • Using daily "pick list" as a tool, monitor inventory levels and report to production so that adequate quantities of product are on hand meet order demand.
  • Initiate production tickets when reorder points have been reached.
  • Initiate Custom tickets when received, pulling from existing inventory for modification when applicable.
  • Ship 25 - 100 orders daily, resolving order processing and shipping issues as they arise.
  • Pull/pick orders with high level of accuracy by cross-checking items pulled to order details. Match products to orders by SKU. Identify opportunities to increase efficiency and minimize errors when they occur.
  • Monitor inventory levels with frequent checks of product inventory against reorder cards when pulling items for orders.
  • React to low inventory levels with timely submission of production tickets to production, or locating WIP and monitoring its movement through production to completion.
  • Plan and facilitate new product inventory space needs according to merchandising plans.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, self-explanatory warehousing system for products and supplies that maximizes existing space available.
  • Work collaboratively with Production and Marketing/Merchandising to achieve seasonal goals and solve interdepartmental process problems.
  • Support production by performing tasks such as clean up and material preparation. (*Off-time may at times be dictated by production needs over inventory management and projects).

Specific Responsibilities of the Job not addressed above

  • Put away finished inventory, rotating and placing in designated spaces.
  • Create shipping reports from shipping program (ShipStation) and for monitoring shipping costs and solving problems associated with shipping errors
  • Meet with Production and Marketing departments regularly to discuss goal progress, trends, inventory issues, etc.
  • When pulling reorder cards for production, examine “like” products near reorder level and pull cards to assist production in maximizing efficiencies.

Education & Experience

  • 1 year’s experience working in a shipping department with hands-on experience picking customer orders.
  • 1 year’s experience performing inventory management-related tasks
  • Experience with e-commerce platforms such as BigCommerce or Shopify preferred
  • Experience with shipping programs such as ShipStation or ShipEasy preferred
  • High School diploma or GED required, some college preferred

Physical Demands and work environment

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds when needed
  • Ability to work on feet (standing) for 80% or more per day
  • 20-25 hour work schedule, Monday – Friday, 4-5 hours per day. Occasional Saturdays in November-December.
  • Comfortable working in warehouse environment

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
